Impact is what we do.

The heart of the Gospel is the incarnational ministry of Jesus - IMPACT!

Jesus came to be present - serving, rather than being served - IMPACT.

And, so must we!

If we are not living and impacting , as He commissioned us in Matthew 28, then we are simply missing the point of the gospel. 2022 truly has been our year to regain footing so we can return to living with impact - but already such great things are happening. 

Just a quick look back:

  • Relaunching weekend Services in Lincoln about 14 months ago

  • Merging with Pathway church this time last year

  • Relaunching small groups

  • If:Table - women ministries

  • VBS - our first major summer endeavor in a couple of years

  • Church-wide campout At Lake Sammamish State Park

  • Baptisms in the Lincoln High School Pool

  • Sending Mo Scott as a missionary to Spain

And yet there is so much more room for Impact. While we are excited about the growing reach of our weekend services - we have so much room for family, friends, and searching neighbors. Pray with me to add another service in 2023! Pray for a family to invite to Christmas!

Baptisms have been great. We baptized twice as many people this year as last. I am praying for even more to come- 30 baptisms in 2023. Pray for gospel space with neighbors, the Lincoln district, and simply favor with our generation.

Generosity. Oh, how deeply generous are the hearts and hands of Discovery! But it is also true we are well behind pre-covid tithes and offerings. Some much needed investments in the next generation and our weekend gatherings wait for generosity levels to increase. Pray with me for weekly offerings to exceed 12,000 in 2023!

 Lastly, pray with me that we together redeem and rediscover the beauty of gathering together. Though not all, many of us, and many in our community struggle to see the need to be committed to gather. It impacts small groups and our large group gatherings. May we become great at living life - gathered. And may we keep a place available for the next one Jesus is redeeming.

IMPACT STORIES: Raijoneh Boyd

Hello Discovery!

 This past year has been one of great transition for our family. From starting a new job, merging with Discovery, and now expecting a little one, we have leaned into Jesus, and often have seen him show up through scripture or through our friends/members of this church.

Silas and I were one of the families that transitioned from the pathway about a year ago. Though it was hard to close a chapter on what had been and remains a significant part of our life, we are thankful for how the Lord grew us in that season and are trusting He will continue the work that He had started in growing our faith in Him.

I grew up in a Baptist church. My family dressed up every Sunday, went to church, and then went home. Though God’s existence was acknowledged, I had never witnessed it making much of a difference in the way we are called to live. It was not until I became older and put my faith in Christ, that I found that the Jesus calls us to more than just showing up on Sundays. As a body of believers, we are invited to live life, celebrate the highs, and walk through the lows together: not perfectly, but together. By God’s grace, I have had the opportunity to live out this invitation through The Pathway, and I now continue this call with you all here at Discovery. What a beauty it is to witness the church being the church for each other and the community. Witnessing lives being changed by the gospel as we grow in spiritual maturity together. It has been a blessing to encourage and be encouraged by my small group and serving alongside one another. I am thankful for the work Jesus is doing in each one of us, and I pray our faith increases all the more in this coming year.

I would love to share some Scripture that remind me of Jesus’ heart for the church and the community. May they encourage you as they do me, and God bless you always.

Acts 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer”.

Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

2023 Ministry Budget

We rejoice that 2022 has been a strong ministry year. Discovery has relaunched weekend ministry at Lincoln High School, groups, family ministry, and outreach into our community. While it has been a strong year and improving week over week, our giving trajectory is still low. Given our slow giving trajectory, uncertainty in the economic horizon, and our conviction about the growth of Discovery - we have presented a conservative ministry budget. Following the ministry budget are some listed prayer/faith investments we hope to make mid 2023 as the giving pattern increases (for we believe God will provide abundantly as we steward faithfully!)

2023 Bylaws

 The Discovery Community Church Council represents the ALL-IN membership between congregational meetings. The council meets monthly for prayer and to review that the mission of Discovery Community Church is being carried out with integrity to the Gospel and scripture.

SPOTLIGHT: Disco Kids + DiscoYouth

VBS | Discipleship:


Our goal was to provide a discipleship opportunity for our kids, invite our friends and neighbors to join us in learning we can have confidence with God because they are known, belong, are forgiven and can make a difference!
-62 volunteers made VBS happen (17 were youth)
-57 kids participated

LIVING WATER | Kids can make a difference!


Our VBS kids, our young leader Maggie Robinson and you all helped us raise a total of $1008.50 toward support for building a well for our neighbors in Uganda!

HARVEST FESTIVAL | Outreach


Our goal was to serve and reach out to our surrounding Lincoln community.
-52 volunteers made it happen (9 were youth)
-Served over 200 kids and their families!

Q: Who can vote in our Annual Meeting on December 18th?

A: If you have completed our All-In course and signed the covenant, you are eligible to vote. Between the 2022 Pathway merger and our ten new All-In members, we have more voting representation this year than last year!

Q: What if I have questions about the budget, proposed bylaw changes, or our new Church Council candidates?

A: I would encourage you to contact our Church Council Chairperson, Marissa Leone, or Pastor Jon directly. I’m sure either of them would love to talk with you!

Q: Ok, Jason, are you ready for the hot seat?

A: Bring it.

Q: At the grocery store: paper or plastic?

A: Neither. I carry my items loosely in my hands, dropping many of them in the parking lot, on the way to depositing them in one of the several reusable bags I have my trunk that I absolutely NEVER REMEMBER TO BRING IN WITH ME.

Q: Where should I go for lunch on Sunday after service?

A: Honestly, we are surrounded by a lot of great restaurants. It’s pretty hard to choose poorly. For my money, I enjoy a banh mi (you already know that’s my fave sandwich) at Lunar’s Pho about a block from Lincoln off 38th St. And if you want to drive across Pacific, Dusty’s Hideaway off 34th has fun food that’ll make you happy.

Q: Do we have anything special planned for Christmas this year?

A: Don’t we always? Our Disco kiddos are cooking up a special video/song for us, and there will also be a nativity that the kids are putting on. They originally asked me to do it as a one-man show but I declined. “Spread the wealth! I can’t do EVERYTHING around here!” I exclaimed before sprinting up the stairs to host yet another Sunday livestream.

Q: So, we’re Disco CHURCH but where is the disco BALL?

A: Believe me, the disco ball motif SEEMED like the right play when Jon and Traci founded Discovery back in 1971* but for about the last ten years or so, the term “Disco” in reference to our church is only used colloquially. (Still though, there MUST be one in storage somewhere, right?)

*Jon and Traci did, in fact, NOT found Discovery in 197. They were toddlers.

Q: Kristen Lumsden is new on staff! Yahoo! What are her roles and responsibilities?

A. We are excited, too! She is here to support staff needs, but also provide help for anyone who has investment on Sunday, making it easier to take part and engage with each other and with Jesus. In addition, she will be providing various administrative assistance and championing connection opportunities.

Q: I’m LOVING Family Meal! Please tell me it’s continuing in 2023?

A: Just try and stop us! We are loving it, too. And so grateful to all of you for not only showing up but participating in our silly games, going back for seconds (so we don’t have too many leftovers) and sitting with someone new. Family Meal is one of our favorite pieces of 2022 and we look forward to many more opportunities to eat together in the New Year (including one last family meal of THIS YEAR on December 18!)
