Question:
Last year we approved a “potential new hire.” What is the status and plan moving forward?
Answer:
We not only recognize the need for additional leadership. We are feeling it. The future growth of Discovery is very much impacted by having the right leaders in place. We have a fantastic hiring team that has prayerfully walked through several rounds of hiring this year. We have met with some great candidates, and continue to do so. Simply, God has not confirmed to this team the next hire. It has been trying at times and we have wondered why this has been more difficult than we expected. As challenging as it has been, we believe that God will provide in His timing.
Question:
Are we still looking to hire?
Answer:
Moving forward: The 2020 approved budget will allow us to partially fund an account for future hire(s). We will do this after December 31. Our two constraints remain: The Father’s confirmation of the right person and the financial resources to support the new staff. Please earnestly pray with us.
Question:
The proposed budget is 12% higher than projected giving. How will we compensate for that?
Answer:
Two things -- First, relatively few “fixed” expenses have been approved. The staff is tasked with spending no more than what God provides. They will continue to keep expenses constrained to gifts given. Secondly, We plan for growth! Based on our current giving patterns we could expect the difference to be remedied with an increase in our attendance by fifty people. We also plan for an increase in generosity! We could expect the difference to be remedied with an additional eleven tithing households.
